Materials
Zirconia
Labs will tend to use three or more brands of zirconia that range on the spectrum of extremely strong to moderately strong and on the spectrum of very opaque to translucent. These zirconia materials will usually be designated as 3Y (stronger, opaque), 4Y, and 5Y (weaker, aesthetic). Please ask us about which zirconia brands we use for which types of indications.
E.Max (Lithium Disilicate)
It comes in Low, Medium, and High Translucency (LT, MT, and HT). The lab will always decide which of the three to use if you do not specify. Several factors to keep in mind for deciding are tooth number, translucency of the patient's teeth, and whether there are heavy occlusal forces being applied to the tooth.
